Charlottesville–Right Now: Collaborative Law 101

Delegate David Toscano makes a non-political visit to WINA’s Charlottesville–Right Now along with fellow attorney Susan White to discuss collaborative law. In particular, collaborative is a new way to conduct civil law in cases such as divorce, where both parties are willing to negotiate on all issues involving the separation.

“Everything is open, on the table, open for discussion, unlike in negotiations where often people hide the ball in order to take advantage of situations and they take these strong positions where they may try to intimidate the other side into giving in,” says Toscano.

White says this new method could save divorcing couples a lot of money by cutting down the need for litigation. Find out more about this practice in this edition of Coy Barefoot’s afternoon program.
