Wake-Up Call: How Charlottesville Non-Profits Work

On the Sunday, February 3rd edition of WNRN’s Sunday Morning Wake-Up Call, host Rick Moore speaks with leaders from several non-profit organizations in Charlottesville. Mary Burkholz from the shelter Caring For Creatures, UVA business professor Rob Patterson, and Tim Sinatra from the local chapter of the Boys and Girls Club are the guests in the studio as we talk all things non-profit.

They talk about how to build an organization from scratch, the hurdles organizations have to overcome to be classified as a non-profit, and why not all non-profits are tax exempt. Tim Sinatra, as the leader of a branch of a national organization, also talks about the advantages and disadvantages of being part of a larger non-profit network. How are non-profits regulated? How do they get their funds? Find out all you need to know about charitable organizations, here on the Wake-Up Call.

The Wake-Up Call is broadcast every Sunday morning from 11AM-Noon (EST) on WNRN-FM. If you want to participate in the show, you can call the WNRN studios at (434) 979-0919, or toll-free at 1-877-967-6762. Visit our RSS feed to subscribe.
