WriterHouse: Finding the True Story Behind the Myth: Dean King on the Hatfields and the McCoys

On February 6, 2014, Dean King, author of The Feud, talked with Henry Wiencek (author of Master of the Mountain: Thomas Jefferson and His Slaves) about the interaction of myth and history and how to write about events and people that are already larger than life. Members of both the Hatfield and McCoy families were in the audience.

  1. how lucky the family are to be the audience of such a lovely discussion by the 2 already larger than life legend authors. hope i would have been a part of it. but anyways luck matters. thanks for sharing this. such discussions are very helpful and knowledgeable.

  2. I have read The Feud and is still in love with the historic story of the book. I’m sure the audience must have truly enjoyed the discussion. how i wish i could have been a part.

  3. Come on…..its the same ole stories from other books. How many times can someone rewrite that story. I can’t believe Mr. Wiencek that you even took the time. I would have rather heard about Mr. Jefferson.
