Charlottesville–Right Now: Twenty-year navy veteran speaks out against Jim Webb

Commander Jennifer Brooks is a twenty-year veteran of the U.S Navy and a graduate of the Naval Academy. Commander Brooks was among the first women to attend the Academy, at the same time Jim Webb wrote an article called “Women Can’t Fight” for the Washingtonian Magazine.

“When the article came out, it basically legitimized bad treatment towards us.” says Brooks. Brooks was a guest on the September 29 edition of WINA’s Charlottesville–Right Now with Coy Barefoot. She described some of the things that happened to her while at the Academy.
