Charlottesville–Right Now: Holly Hatcher on proposed changes to Charlottesville’s animal ordinance

Holly Hatcher joins Coy Barefoot on the November 6th edition of WINA’s Charlottesville–Right Now to talk about some proposed changes to the section of the Charlottesville City Code that deals with animals. Hatcher has been part of a campaign to strengthen penalties for people who cannot stop their dog from attacking another. Hatcher’s dog was attacked by a loose pit bull while she walking him around Meade Park. It took two grown men to pull the two dogs apart.”

“And you know, I started looking at the laws and realized that we have a very weak animal ordinance in the city of Charlottesville.”

She says the tougher ordinance will penalize irresponsible dog owners who allow their dogs.
